Constitution

(i) IFA has a written constitution within which it operates, with nominated trustees, which enables IFA to be registered as a non-profit making, charitable institution under English law.

(ii) Ultimate authority over IFA's affairs is vested in the Annual General Meeting, attended by representatives of the Corporate Members of IFA, who have voting rights.

(iii) Future policies of IFA are guided by an Executive Council, the members of which are elected at Annual General Meetings.

(iv) The Executive Council is supported by a permanent secretariat, headed by a Director, who conducts the day-to-day business of the Federation.

(v) The officers include a President, the Chairman of the Executive Council, the Executive Director, Director/Treasurer, Director Membership & Publicity and such Vice Presidents and other officers as the Executive Council may appoint.

(vi) The Technical Committee provides advice to the Executive Council and members on detailed technical considerations. By holding regular meetings, it also provides a forum for members to review and discuss topics of mutual interest and concern.

Non Government Organisations

IFA has adopted the status of a Non Governmental International Organisation (NGO). NG0s are the evolution of a long established activity dating back to the 18th century. NG0s continue throughout the world with a total exceeding 13,000. Their sphere of involvement covers a wide spectrum embracing cultural, scientific, humanitarian, social, economical etc., activities.

NG0s are non-profit independent organisations occasionally associated with public bodies but not with Government institutions, registered at their headquarters location and incorporated according to their national law.

The adoption of NGO status reinforces the independent role of IFA and its credibility with national and international organisations concerned with airworthiness.
